Many people would argue that Maruti Suzuki ignis will replace the Ritz model but it’s not like that. Maruti Ritz is entirely a different car segment product. Ignis is a premium product which is from Maruti Nexa Chain. As we mentioned earlier Ignis is targeted towards those customers who look for premium products.

The Ignis can be booked by either online Nexa Experience website or through Nexa dealerships.

So which car is the direct competitor of Ignis? It’s Mahindra’s KUV100. Apparently KUV100 shares the same compact SUV like dimensions with Ignis. Though few more competitors for Ignis are Hyundai i10 & Ford Figo because of their similar price segment.

Ignis was launched in Auto Expo in last Feb 2016 & with a quick range of time , finally it has been introduced as a production car.

Maruti Ignis has been categorized in 11 models which range from Rs. 4.59 Lakhs to Rs. 7.46 Lakhs.

What are the features in Maruti Ignis?

Since Ignis is going to be sold by Nexa chain, it’s being sold in Sigma, Delta, Zeta & Alpha trims. Following are the feature highlights across all trims:

Engine Specifications of Ignis:

The Petrol version of Ignis bears 1.2L Petrol Engine whereas Diesel version contains 1.3L Diesel Engine.

In terms of Engine power, Petrol version has 83PS power whereas Diesel version lags behind by having 74 PS power.

The Petrol version is having 113Nm torque, however Diesel variant is having 190 Nm torque.

Both variants have 5 Speed Manual & Automatic transmission based on their Trims (Sigma, Delta, Zeta & Alpha)

In terms of engine specifications, Ignis shares the same features of Baleno, Swift & Swift Dzire. The international variant has the option of AWD but it won’t be available in Indian Market.


How much is mileage of Maruti Suzuki Ignis?

The ARAI has claimed that the Mileage is 20.89 KMPL & 26.80 KMPL for Petrol & Diesel engines respectively. Though few car enthusiasts have estimated it as 16 KMPL and 19 KMPL in city, Ignis proves itself as one of the fuel efficient cars to drive on.


What are the Dimensions of Maruti Ignis?

With a length of 3700 mm and width of 1690 mm , Ignis can be touted as a good city hatchback model. The height of the Ignis is 1595mm whereas the wheelbase is 2435mm.

Kerb weight of Ignis 825 – 960 Kgs (depending upon the variants). With an adequate boot space of 260 Liters & 415 liters (After seats are folded), Ignis can be considered as a good family car for city rides. Though it’s smaller than Swift & Baleno yet Ignis has longer wheelbase than Swift.


How beautiful design is of Maruti Ignis?

Unlike other Maruti Hatchbacks, Ignis has got way more different design elements which give it a sporty appeal. The wheels are stretched to the edges of the body, thus it gives wide angle sporty look. The vents on the C pillar as well as the helmet like roof of the car give it an eye catching view. One can say that the styling part done on Ignis has been extracted from previous Suzuki models. Whether it’s clamshell bonnet, A & B Pillars or Headlamps; everything has been designed from earlier Suzuki models.

On personal note, we feel Ignis to be completely different hatchback than existing ones in the Indian Market. It’s SUVish like appearance is enough to draw attention of anyone.


How good is the interior view of Maruti Suzuki Ignis?

Maruti Ignis has never failed to impress us on any view in terms of it’s interior designs. The steering wheel of Ignis has been uniquely designed to give a beautiful grip with a sporty look. The central touchpoint screen gives aesthetic look to the dashboard with either sides AC vents. The cabin of Ignis has got many modern features such as infotainment with iOS & Android connectivity, Electrical ORVMs & climate control etc.
